How to get to Fuseta-A Portugal by train

A tiny fishing village with a lot going for it, Fuseta is an East Algarve highlight that should be part of every visitor’s itinerary. A little off the beaten path and relatively unspoilt, it’s a wonderful place to while away a day exploring its beautiful tiled streets and sampling its fresh seafood.

While it’s small, there are several restaurants and cafes to choose from, mostly offering the same type of food (ie Portuguese seafood). The best ones seem to be located around Largo 1o de Maio or a short walk away in Praca da Republica.

There are also a few shops selling beach gear and souvenirs in the main street, as well as an art gallery and some lovely little churches. The Igreja Matriz da Fuseta is a pretty typically-styled church built in the 1800s on the site of an older one, and offers a nice focal point for visitors to the town.

Getting to and from Fuseta-A is easy as it’s served by both local and regional trains, with tickets available to or from Lagos, Tavira, and Faro. You can purchase tickets on the train itself or at a ticket machine at Fuseta-A station, which is right in the centre of town.

It’s also worth visiting the little old square at the top of the town (Praça da Republica on Google Maps), which is surrounded by trees and has some beautiful old tiles with intricate star designs on them. This is a great spot for people-watching and relaxing with an ice cream or coffee, especially on sunny days when live music might be playing!
