When it became clear that Crossrail 2 was not going to be built in Streatham Hill, the SAT Group decided to focus upon other possible smaller wins for transport improvements in our area. These included a high frequency overground Orange line service (e.g. 6 tph+) for our part of south west London.

Nightlife
Streatham Hill is a bustling area with three railway stations and a lively local community. The town sprawls over a large part of Lambeth and is blessed with green spaces and easy access to central London. There is a huge range of property here, from period multi bedroom houses to purpose built flats.
A swathe of retail occupies the north of the town along Streatham High Road. Here, a few cafes and specialist food shops have begun to break out among the chain outlets. The eight screen Streatham Odeon is a popular choice for entertainment, while the newly opened Streatham Theatre offers both acting and watching opportunities for those keen to tread the boards.
At the southern end of the high street, Streatham Common boasts a stunning woodland and meadow. There’s a tennis court, gym and Lido too, and at The Rookery, a formal ornamental garden.
For drinks and pub grub, head to The Mere Scribbler on Streatham Hill for delicious brunches, burgers and beer gardens on sunny days. A few doors down, The Railway Pub is a gorgeous Victorian gastropub where you can enjoy a beer and laugh until your sides ache at the live comedy and music. The station is a hop, skip and jump away from here so you can easily get home after an evening out.
Restaurants
Streatham Hill is home to a whole bunch of seriously good restaurants. The first one to make it onto this list is Llewelyn’s, a light-filled bolthole that serves up some of London’s best gin cocktails and a fab menu of deli meat and tapas (like a banh xeo with turmeric and coconut milk – it’s the ultimate sharing dish).
Next door you’ll find Lyon-born Margaux overseeing the natural and organic tipples at her loveable Brixton wine bar, where she and husband Joe serve a short blackboard menu of pure-bred French dishes – think boudin noir with cured egg yolk, tarragon and crackling or John Dory with courgettes and sauce vierge.
A hop, skip and a jump down the street is SW16 Bar & Kitchen, which has a lot more swagger than the chilled-out brunch spots you might expect to find on Europe’s longest high road. A sprawling joint, they’re a deli, bottle shop, restaurant and co-working space too (plenty of plugs and proper fast WiFi attract the WFH crowd), and their beer list has a solid local focus with 400+ craft beers to choose from – including several brewed in Streatham itself. They also offer a range of wines and whiskeys, with a few bites on the side to tame the thirst. A tip: ask for a seat outside on the square.
