How to get to Espadaneira Portugal by train
Portugal has a decent train network that covers most major towns and cities. It’s a great way to see the country on a budget and to connect to onward destinations in Europe. Trains are fast, comfortable and super affordable if you book early enough.
The cheapest tickets are available a few weeks in advance for the Alfa Pendular trains (Portugal’s high-speed, long-distance train which connects most of its major cities and also has international routes that connect to cities in Spain). However, prices fluctuate depending on route popularity and ticket demand. It’s a good idea to poke around Omio (an official CP third-party reseller) to see what’s on offer for your specific itinerary.
You can buy train tickets online, via the CP app or at a CP station’s ticket window. For Alfa Pendular and Intercidade trains you can reserve seats up to 30 days ahead, though this won’t always be possible. Other services like the Regional and Interregional or Urban trains can’t be reserved in advance. Discounts are available for under 25s and those with a European Youth Card.
The only downside of taking a train is that you may be required to change trains on some longer journeys. But there are usually bus connections between the different stops.
