Leptokarya Railway Station Greece is a railway station in the town of Dio-Olympos, Pieria, Central Macedonia, Greece. It is located close to the hamlet Paralia Skotinas and village Plaka. The station is operated by Hellenic Train (OSE).
The station was built in 1916 and is situated on the Thrasya-Viotia line, which connects it to the rest of Greece. In 1970 OSE became the legal successor to SEK and took on responsibilities for most of the country’s rail infrastructure, including the station. Currently, the station serves local services to Thessaloniki and Kalambaka, with around 22 services passing through each day.
Getting to and from the station can be tricky, especially during peak times. To make things easier, Rome2Rio recommends booking your ticket in advance. This will not only ensure you get the best price, but also avoids the stress of rushing to meet your schedule.
While public transportation can be a great way to navigate the city, renting a car will give you the freedom to explore the nearby mountains and countryside. Several car rental companies can be found at Thessaloniki Airport, and many of them offer competitive rates and a variety of vehicles to choose from.
The weather in Leptokarya (East Olympos) can be unpredictable, so it’s a good idea to pack layers and rain gear. Additionally, learning a few basic Greek phrases will be helpful when communicating with locals. While many people speak English, knowing a few words will go a long way in making connections and showing respect for the culture.
