How to get to Moledo do Minho Portugal by train
You can explore this charming village in the northern part of the country, situated within the Viana do Castelo municipality, on a day trip from Porto or as an overnight break. The quaint town has a mix of things to see and do from beaches and mountains, to Renaissance architecture and fabulous food.
One of the highlights in Moledo is the clock tower, located near the main square. The building served as the main tower in the medieval castle and is a symbol of the village. In the area around the clock tower you will find remains of the ramparts, which you can climb to admire stunning views over the city and into Spain.
A must-see is also the church, which has a stunning blue roof and has been described as one of the most beautiful churches in all of Portugal. The interior is equally impressive with a beautiful altarpiece and many stained glass windows.
There is also a lovely park in the centre of the village, which offers visitors a place to relax and enjoy the sun or a refreshing drink in one of the cafés. The park is also home to a number of historic buildings, including the old town hall.
If you want to stay in Moledo, there is a selection of accommodation options. You can find everything from budget hotels to luxurious hotels, depending on your requirements and preferences. There are also a few hostels, such as Xicotina 2, which is perfect for Camino pilgrims. The cosy hostel has a garden and offers guests free bikes to use during their stay.
