1. Visit Bagshot Park
The Earl and Countess of Wessex live at Bagshot Park with their son James, Viscount Severn, and daughter Lady Louise Windsor (when she’s not away at school in Ascot). While the royal couple tend to keep the interior of their home as private as possible, aerial photos of the sprawling property show that they certainly have plenty of space to spread out in.
The main entrance to Bagshot Park is off London Road, where a gateway and lodge, Sunningdale Lodge, mirrors the architecture of the house in both its design and style. A drive from here leads south through a mixture of mature trees and rhododendrons and then more open lawns, to reach the house at its front.
The property’s 51 acres of grounds also include a home farm, which is still a working farm today and is an important part of the park landscape. The southern branch of the drive provides access to the home farm, while a northern fork continues northwards to a gate at the house’s front.
2. Take a Tour of Bagshot Park
Although Bagshot Park is a private home and is not open to the public, royal fans have gotten a glimpse of the interiors. Sophie filmed herself baking scones in her kitchen, which features sage green walls and white cupboards. She also showcased a stunning marble fireplace, multiple vintage sideboards, and luxury artwork.
Bagshot Park was built around 1609 for Charles I and is believed to have 120 rooms. It later became the home of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, a son of Queen Victoria. Following the Duke’s death, the house was requisitioned for use as a church house and Army Chaplains Depot until it was returned to Prince Edward and his wife Sophie.

3. Visit Bagshot Museum
The Bagshot Museum is a local history museum with interesting exhibitions, collections, and tours. The museum is a great place to learn about the area’s past, including the early days of coaching inns, Surrey Heath, and Queen Victoria.

4. Take a Walk Around Bagshot
The area around Bagshot is lovely to walk, especially along the wide bridle tracks and woodland trails. This walk, which begins at Hatchet Pond car park one and a quarter miles (2 kilometres) from Bagshot village centre, takes you across the heath and past the pretty Rapley Lake on the north side of the town. It also crosses the boundary into Swinley Forest in Bracknell Forest and, if you wish, you can easilty extend your stroll by heading north. This walk is primarily on level ground with only a small number of gentle inclines but it includes part of a footpath across Bagshot Moor which can be wet underfoot at certain times of year, particularly during and after heavy rain. The walk also passes Bronze Age barrows and relics from two airfields, East Boldre and RAF Beaulieu.
