Brinnington is a north-eastern suburb of Stockport in Greater Manchester. It is served by the town’s main railway station and is close to several bus routes.

1. Brinnington Park
The park is home to a 3G football pitch, community room and sports hall with badminton and indoor basketball. It also hosts kids classes and activities every week.
Life Leisure opened Brinnington Park Leisure Complex in 2018 as a ‘destination facility for the area’. The centre has a gym, aerobics studio with weekly class programme and boxing gym.
Some residents of the estate have complained about anti-social behaviour by young people. One woman said they were ‘terrorising the area’ by smashing delivery drivers’ windows to steal parcels and attacking takeaway staff with bricks, eggs or stones. Police say they are taking reports ‘extremely seriously’.
2. Brinnington Park Leisure Complex
A brand new complex that is operated by Life Leisure is home to a state-of-the-art gym, aerobics studio with a weekly programme of classes and a boxing gym. The facility also boasts a three-G football pitch and four-court sports hall.
Several good hiking areas and sssis are located near Brinnington like Blackberry Vale, Winter Hill Summit, Adam Hill, and Crooked Edge Hill. There are some good bluebell woods nearby too like Dean Wood, Walker Fold Woods, and Roscow Clough Tenement Wood.
Other good places to visit near Brinnington include ruins like Nob End SSSI, Wildersmoor Pit Kilns (ruin), and Lower Tarkingtons (ruin). The area is also home to some great lakes like Yarrow Reservoir Yarrow Outflow Cascade and Langshaw Ford Weir.
3. Brinnington Park Library

The new multi-million pound leisure complex, operated by Life Leisure, has opened and replaces the former Lapwing Centre in Brinnington. The facility includes a gym, aerobics studio, boxing gym and four court sports hall.
The town is home to some great hills, ancient sites, round cairns and hiking areas as well as ruins, canals, disused railway lines and moated sites. Countryside took a leap of faith with the Blackberry Vale development in Brinnington but it has proved to be a success.
4. Brinnington Park Community Centre
A multi-million pound community sports and leisure complex has opened in Brinnington Park. Built through investment from Stockport Council and operated by Life Leisure, it replaces the old Lapwing facility. It has a gym, aerobics studio with weekly classes programme, boxing gym, four court sports hall and outdoor 3G football pitch.
The centre is hosting a community sport and activity day on Saturday 23rd March, which includes an inflatable assault course for kids, a giant games zone, studio classes like spinning and dance fit, family boxing and gym sessions and a ‘messy play’ area.
There are several great hills, ancient sites and hiking areas to discover in the vicinity of Brinnington. Some of the best include Winter Hill Summit, White Brow Cairn and Noon Hill. Also explore the ruins of Two Lads, Wildersmoor Pit Kilns, Owshaw Clough Mine Filtration Ruins and Lower Tarkingtons.
5. Brinnington Park Sports Centre
Brinnington Park Sports Centre is a multi-million pound facility developed through investment by Stockport Council and operated by Life Leisure, replacing the old Lapwing leisure centre. GT3 Architects used Polyflor’s Sport 67 in Maple flooring throughout the new complex.
On Saturday 23rd March the Sports Centre will host a community sport and activity day, with fun inflatable assault courses for kids, studio classes like spin and dance fit, and family boxing and gym sessions. Running enthusiasts can also take part in a pilot Park Run event.

6. Brinnington Park Community Centre
A gym, pool, studio classes and a community room are just some of the things you can get your teeth stuck into at Brinnington Park Leisure Complex. You can use the facilities at Avondale, Houldsworth Village, Grand Central and Stockport Sports Village at all available times with a minimum 6 month direct debit membership.
A special event is being held at the centre this March to celebrate its first year anniversary, with local residents given free access to a host of exercise classes and sports sessions. This includes a free’messy play’ area, inflatable assault course and a family boxing gym session. This is a great way to try the centre before you join!
