Guide to Le Buet
Visiting Le Buet is one of the most spectacular hiking experiences in the French Alps. You can enjoy stunning views and experience a beautiful mountain environment from the village’s parking area, Gare Le Buet. The hike itself is relatively easy, but some sections can be steep and tricky to navigate. For those interested in a challenging hike, the Vallon de Berard route is an excellent option.
Hotel du Buet
The Hotel du Buet is a family-run business that’s been around for 130 years. It’s close to the train station in Buet, the starting point of many walking and ski tours. The hotel has a restaurant that serves traditional French fare and seasonal specialties, and the service here is both warm and prompt. The ambiance is charming and the decor is elegant.
Route
The Route du Buet is one of the most beautiful hiking trails in France. It is situated on a ridge and climbs steep switchbacks to reach the Buet summit. Once there, you can enjoy the stunning panorama of Mont-Blanc massif. You can also see the summits of the Haute-Savoie and Valais mountains. The Buet is easily accessible from the Grenairon Refuge. The trail is accessible via a vehicle track or a narrow footpath.
Access to the valley of the Giffre
Access to the valley of the Giffre is possible from two sides. One valley is the valley of the Giffre and the other is the valley of the Haut Giffre. Both valleys are accessible via the A40 highway.
Snack bars
During winter, Cafe Moontine in Le Buet has a winter-themed play area for children. This fun space provides all the tools you need for a day of snow-play. Every Wednesday, the café hosts a snow play session for the children. The cafe is located near the train station.
Parking
Located at the foot of the slopes in Le Buet, Residence Odalys Le Buet offers free parking and fully equipped apartments with all the comforts of home. Each apartment comes with a television and bed linen. A ski locker is also available at the property. The ski lift is within walking distance, and public parking is available nearby.
