The city of Vienne is located in southeastern France, 35 km south of Lyon. It is situated at the confluence of the rivers Gère and Rhône. It is the fourth largest community in the Isère department, and is part of the subprefecture La Tour-du-Pin. During the Roman Empire, Vienne was an important center. It was also known as Vienna in Latin.

During the Middle Ages, it was one of the most important religious sites in Europe. It was later sold as national property after the French Revolution. Inside, you’ll find elements from the 10th and 12th centuries, as well as a fine set of Burgundian-style capitals.
Chateau de la Batie

Mont Pipet
Mont Pipet is a hill in the city of Vienne. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is the highest point in the city. In 1858, a statue of the Virgin Mary was installed on the hill. The hill also has a chapel dedicated to Notre-Dame de la Salette. The chapel was built in 1873. It is located in the Saint-Just and Saint-Marcel districts in Vienne, in the Vallee de Gere.
